Some iPhone 4G Numbers – Can I Get a Hell Yeah?

Alright, alright, you’ve had enough cool things to look at in the last few hours. Let’s rap for serious, real quick. The iPhone 4G has now got some official stats floating around, so here’s some straight poop on Your Next Phone.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, senior analyst for Digitimes, Foxconn will be shipping 24 million units this year (4.5 in the first half of 2010, 19.5 in the latter), starting in June.

Kuo also confirmed that the 4G will feature IPS (in-plane switching) panels with FFS (fringe-field switching) technology and a 960×640 resolution – in layman’s terms, this thing is going to be an optic beast, as far as phones go. Considering that the best Android phones display in 854×480 and still require periodic hand-cupping in direct sunlight, Apple is only continuing its lead. In addition, the panel is now a full third thinner, to allow more space for a larger battery, so you can app yourself silly for much longer.

The device will run on  the ARM Cortex A8 with 512MB of memory, an effective doubling of the 3G’s memory, which will only serve to make that iPhone 4.0 firmware all the smoover. Yes, with a ‘v’. This thing is going to be the belle of the ball.

Oh, and in case you like reading books on an itty-bitty little phone screen, it’ll have iBookstore support.

Thanks for the heads up, Kuo, you’re the man.
