Terror Tweet Twit On Trial

Terror Tweet Twit On Trial

We’ve all been there. One moment of massive frustration, peaking in a poorly worded outburst.

Paul Chambers is one such unfortunate individual. After tweeting the sentence “Robin Hood airport is closed, you’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together, otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!” Paul’s life began to slowly unravel before his eyes.

Paul was arrested and found guilty of “sending by a public communications network a message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character”.

After being fined £1000 Chambers’ luck didn’t improve. He has since been fired from two jobs, and now he has decided to fight back.

Today Chambers will appear in court to overturn the guilty charge.

While it’s an amusing tale, it is a little scary that one misplaced tweet can ruin a man’s life to this extent.

Have you ever tweeted or updated your Facebook status and regretted it after?
