We are the Facebook generation

We Are the Facebook Generation

There is a new generation, one that is full of conversation, sharing and caring about what others think. No longer does it matter how old you are or from what generation you originated from, whether it be from the Baby Boomer era, or from Gen X to Gen Y, we have co- created a generation on its own, known as the Facebook Generation.

Whether you love or despise Facebook, you have either been on it, are on it or have talked about it at some point. This conglomerate of a social site has taken our segregated generational gaps and unified us through the written word.

Sure, we could also be known as the Social Media generation, but social media has been around long before Facebook. This site is what catapulted the term Social Media into the lime light as it strives to socialize the web. Never was there such a way to visit a website prior to Facebook that had the ability to share what you read, were impressed by, or enjoyed, and then pass on your web experience with your friends and family.

Facebook has been an innovative leader in bringing us closer together, capitalizing on the six degrees of separation and keeping us from ever feeling isolated.

Does the word bored even exist anymore? To truly be bored nowadays you would have to literally be without Internet access. Although Facebook was to initially bring us closer to family and friends, many have moved passed this, allowing people they recognize or have grown to know from other social sites become a part of their Facebook experience. Not to mention the fact that Facebook has given us the ability to become friends with friends of friends and with its pages you are able to expand beyond this as a personal page or a brand page.

We all remember the web prior to Facebook, and although we may not agree with all of its choices we cannot deny the options it has given us when browsing the web, how it has continuously brought us closer together and obliterated the feeling of loneliness.

We now care what other people think, what their interests are or what they have to say, this has never been more prominent then today. So no matter your financial status, age, gender, location or race, we together have enabled a generation that may be online right now, but could be the beginning of a changed world… the possibilities are there, opportunities are growing and we can proudly say together that we are the Facebook generation.
