Apple corrects website to not claim their maps are the most powerful

Apple Maps

You have to give Apple credit. They know they launched a dud and they’re willing to admit it. Mostly.

In a letter to their customers, Apple CEO Tim Cook encouraged iOS6 users to download apps to use instead of Apple’s version. This humbling experience has been treated very well by the company; the finger pointing has been minimal and the willingness to accept failure has been admirable. Here’s the letter from their website:

Now, they’ve taken it a step further by reducing their claims that they placed on the website . Instead of saying it’s the “most beautiful, powerful mapping service ever”, they are now saying that it is “in a beautiful vector-based interface that scales and zooms with ease.”

It may not be accurate or understandable, but it’s definitely beautiful.

Until they get it fixed (and they will get it fixed) they’re still going to have to put up with jabs like this.

What do you think?
