Google is becoming Apple’s biggest competitor in the education market

Google has launched Google Play for Education, an extension of Google Play that is designed specifically for K-12 schools. The new tool provides educational apps, videos, and books for teachers and students. This move marks Google’s first real entry into the education market which has long been dominated by Apple.

Google is no longer the best-kept secret in education — that is, if Google’s presence in any market is ever “a secret.” Over the last year or so, the search giant has been quietly expanding its footprint in education and is moving quickly to capture a greater share of the K-12 market.
