Half of all the active users on Twitter come from just five countries

Statista, an online statistics portal, has created a chart using data from PeerReach that shows which countries Twitter’s active users live in. With “active users” being defined as those who tweet, it seems that one fourth of Twitter’s active users live in the U.S. while another fourth live in the next four countries: Japan, Indonesia, the U.K., and Brazil.

Twitter users are all over the world, but half of the social network’s active users — those who tweet at least once a month — live in just five countries: the U.S., Japan, Indonesia, the UK and Brazil. Using data from PeerReach, online statistics portal Statista created the chart, below, which shows the 13 countries with the highest shares of monthly active tweeters.
