Sony responds to backlash over stripping the PS4’s media server functionality

Sony announced last month that the PS4 would not be capable of streaming movies and music like the PS3 can. This was met with considerable backlash from consumers much to the surprise of Sony. PlayStation Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has said that Sony was planning on adding media features to the PS4 but decided to postpone those features in order to focus more on gaming.

Last month, Sony took the surprisingly unpopular decision to strip a lot of the media server functionality from the PS4 that made the PS3 such a useful box. Well, the backlash made an impression, with Sony now discussing “how and when we can put these features on PS4”.
