Tom Wheeler wants to allow passengers to use their smartphones in the air, or does he?

On Thursday the new FCC Chairman, Tom Wheeler, said that he was working to allow passengers to use their smartphones in the air. However, only a day later he contradicted this previous statement with a new one describing how he thought allowing passengers to use their smartphones in the air was a bad idea.

After yesterday’s very promising news that the FCC is (finally) considering allowing passengers to use their smartphones in the air, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler wants folks to know that he personally doesn’t love the idea of sitting amid constant phone chatter on a long flight. You and the rest of us, Mr. Wheeler.

What do you think?
