FAA approves civilian drone testing in six states

The FAA has approved civilian drone testing at certain sites in six states: Alaska, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Texas, and Virginia. The sites were chosen from a list of 24 entities in 25 states. Each of the sites are allowed to test until February 13, 2017 under current rules.

Amazon’s big “Prime Air” marketing was compelling enough, if not a bit misleading. It showed a future where commercial drones may take to the skies for dozens of reasons, but among them, home deliveries. Amazon of course still needs approval from the FAA and other government bodies, but now we’re starting to make some progress. The FAA on Monday announced six states where there are six testing sites for civilian drones.
