FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler: Agency still has regulatory role

Newly appointed FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler has drawn a lot of attention with his anti-regulatory policies. However, he believes that the FCC still has regulatory role and will begin focusing on telecom competition and on Internet access and interconnection.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission still has a regulatory role to promote competition in telecommunications and broadband and to ensure Internet users can access the content of their choosing, the agency’s new chairman said Monday.
