Shoppers reportedly spent $1.2 billion online this black Friday

Breaking the tradition of waking up at 3 a.m. to line up in front of a mall or local Walmart, an increasing number of Americans have decided to take the safer route of shopping from home.

If you take an increase in the rate of holiday spending as a suggestion of good economic news, then there’s a lot to like about the new numbers from comScore, the research firm that tracks the digital economy.
