Viki brings its crowd-translated movies and shows to Chinese Web giant Baidu’s video service

Viki, the global video site acquired by Japan’s Rakuten in September, has taken a big step to upping its presence in China after announcing a partnership with Baidu, the country’s dominant search engine, and plans for a Shanghai office next year.

Video streaming site Viki, which allows users to write subtitles in over 160 languages, is expanding in China’s online video market by launching on Baidu, the country’s biggest search engine, with around 237 million monthly active users of its video service.
