BitTorrent’s promotional bundles had over 60 million downloads last year

The Internet has created a world where value is determined by virality. BitTorrent is contributing to the evolution of how content gets shared. The creator of file-sharing technology revealed today that people have downloaded BitTorrent Bundles 60 million times in less than a year, and nearly 164,400 BitTorrent Bundles are downloaded a day.

BitTorrent just published a blog post recapping its past year, particular the success it has seen with BitTorrent Bundles. Those Bundles are basically promotional packages of content that creators or content companies share. For example, to promote the iTunes release of the director’s cut of theOscar-nominated documentary The Act of Killing, its makers released a BitTorrent Bundle last month that included videos, essays, and photos tied to the movie.
