LG’s new smart TV gets leaked ahead of CES 2014

Recent reports suggest that LG is preparing to announce its new webOS-powered SMart TV at CES 2014 in Las Vegas. However, photos of the device have already been leaked ahead of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. While not much can be extrapolated from the image, it certainly looks cool, and it certainly looks expensive. 

According to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal, LG is gearing up to launch a webOS-powered Smart TV during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, which kicks off next week. Now we have an idea of what the user interface and TV might actually look like. @evleaks recently tweeted what appears to be an official press image for the TV. We can see an almost edge-to-edge screen with very thin bezels, what appears to be a metal base and, of course, plenty of applications including Skype, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and a few others we can’t quite identify. With webOS allegedly on board, LG is expected to continue to offer the same “card-based” interface we saw on phones launched by Palm and HP. We imagine it’s slightly tweaked now, though, and can’t really get a grasp of what it might look like in this image.
