Apple aims to shut down jailbreakers with its new iOS 7.1 update

It was always a matter of time before Apple killed off the popular Team Evasi0n jailbreak, and as of iOS 7.1 beta 4, they had killed off at least one critical exploit. But Apple’s not going to stop there. They’re nuking Evasi0n from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure. According to Evasi0n hacker iH8Snow, the recently released iOS 7.1 Beta 5 closes a number of additional Evasi0n exploits that could have been used as pieces to make a future jailbreak.

The newest beta version of iOS 7.1 continues to bring bad news for jailbreaking fans. According to Twitter user iH8sn0wiOS 7.1 beta 5 patches other evasi0n exploits – the “chown” vulnerability and “afc sandbox escape” used by the jailbreak utility. So if you’re a jailbreaker, you’ll definitely want to steer completely clear of iOS 7.1. Released in January, iOS 7.1 beta 4 also patched an essential kernel exploit used by evasi0n7 jailbreak. The long-awaited evasi0n iOS 7 untethered jailbreak was released in late December from the popular evad3rs hacker team. It is compatible with all iOS devices running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.5.
