Microsoft currently testing Office Lens app for Windows Phone

Need a quick and dirty copy of a receipt, document or restaurant menu? Your smartphone’s camera can make a rough facsimile, but Microsoft thinks that it can do better. According to a Windows Phone Store landing page, Office Lens leverages Microsoft OneNote, optical character recognition and your smartphone’s camera to put “a scanner in your pocket.” 

Back in September of last year, we reported that Microsoft was working on an app for Windows Phone called ‘Office Lens.’ Not much was known about the Office Lens app, but that it would be for the Windows Phone platform. This app would let you take a picture of a whiteboard and automatically scan and convert that picture using optical character recognition. Now, it appears that the app is currently undergoing testing within Microsoft. Details of the app have appeared on the app’s official Store link, showcasing all it has to offer. “Office Lens trims, enhances and makes pictures of whiteboards and docs readable, and saves them to OneNote. Office Lens is like having a scanner in your pocket. Never miss notes on whiteboards or blackboards. Always find important documents or business cards. Don’t lose receipts or stray sticky notes again!” the app description reads.
