All-metal Galaxy smartphone could be in testing right now

A while back we caught wind of a possible Samsung Galaxy S5 variant with a blisteringly hi-res Quad HD screen and now it’s appeared again. This time around the mystery handset, currently known as the Galaxy S5 Prime, has been listed on Indian import site Zauba. The site lists four ‘SM-G906K’ units as having been shipped from South Korea for “R&D purpose.” This is the same Galaxy S5 ‘Plus’ that’s been mooted for a while.

A collection of mystery Samsung mobiles have been spotted on a shipping inventory, seeming to confirm the fact that some newer Galaxy S5 models may be on the way. Including that one with the quad HD display. The details, which show that Samsung’s shipped a batch of phones and tablets to India for “R&D” testing purposes, say that a Samsung model known as the SM-G906K is ready for testing, alongside many other unannounced models. The SM-G906K is the one men on the internet are the most excited about, though, as that’s the model number associated with the supposedly “premium” S5 with the 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 display and, we hope, a metallic chassis. Other “leaked” specs include 3GB of RAM, a 16MP camera and 32GB of storage.
