Apple releases major update for the Safari web browser

Apple on Tuesday issued an update for Safari, 7.0.3 for OS X 10.9 Mavericks and 6.1.3 for users running older versions of OS X. Safari received updates that “contains improvements to compatibility, stability, and security.” Most notably users will notice improved push notifications outside of regular behind the scenes security or stability updates. The update now allows turning off push notifications from websites as well fixing an error that blocks receipt of push notifications.

Apple today updated update Safari for Mavericks to version 7.0.3, adding improvements to compatibility, stability, and security. The update includes a new option for turning off push notification prompts for websites, improves credit card autofill, adds support for webpages with generic top-level domains, and fixes several security issues. The update is a free download for Mavericks users and is available through the software update tool in the Mac App Store. Apple has also released a new version of Safari 6.1.3 for Mountain Lion users.
