Customers enraged after T-Movile cancels its discount program

T-Mobile waited until Friday afternoon last week to announce its latest “Uncarrier” move, and now it looks like we know why: Hundreds or even thousands of T-Mobile subscribers have taken to Twitter, Reddit and other online forums to voice their frustrations as T-Mobile puts an end to a program that was saving thousands of customers a substantial amount of money on their wireless bills.

T-Mobile recently announced its intentions to cut its employer discount program. The company said that it no longer needed to offer the discount because it argues it has the best rates already. Of course, folks who did have a solid discount in place were infuriated to see it taken away. Now, T-Mobile CEO John Legere is backpedaling a bit and says he hears his customers loud and clear. “Over the past couple days, I’ve been doing a lot of listening to our customers,” Legere said in a blog post on Wednesday. “Everyone enrolled in the Advantage Program or who applied to enroll before April 1st will be able to keep a rate plan discount as long as they work at a participating employer and remain on a qualifying plan. All of our Simple Choice plans currently qualify. We will be asking that customers participate in a simple annual online employer verification.”
