Microsoft controls over a quarter of the Vietnamese smartphone market

Generally speaking, the Windows Phone platform isn’t exactly the most popular smartphone platform in the world. In fact its worldwide market share isn’t as high as iOS and Android, although to be fair there are some markets in which Windows Phone is doing pretty well in. Vietnam is one of those countries, at least according to a recent report by Vietnamese website, vietnamnet.vn

Seems, Windows Phone has shown really strong growth in Vietnamese market. It now hold 26% of market share as compared to 16% market share one year back. This has been reported in an article published in vietnamnet.vn. According to the same article, Nokia / Microsoft had launched Lumia 630 in Vietnam two days back and it will be one of the priority markets for Microsoft like it has been for Nokia in terms of new product launches. The article also highlights the affection “Nokia” brand still enjoys amongst Vietnamese buyers.
