Netflix to begin streaming Breaking Bad in 4K resolution

“Breaking Bad,” the popular AMC series that ended its run several months ago, will look just a little better to those who 4K-resolution televisions, Netflix has confirmed. The company says that starting in June, the entire “Breaking Bad” series will be streamed in 4K resolution to those users who have a 4K set. The series has been remastered from standard HD to boost the resolution to 4K, and will also include 5.1-channel surround sound.

Netflix will start offering Breaking Bad as a 4K streaming option starting this June, the company has confirmed. The company has been licensed by Sony to offer the series, and a remaster with 4K resolution (that’s 3840×2160 pixels), and 5.1 surround sound is almost complete, Pocket-lint reports. Netflix launched its first Ultra HD videos in Nov. 2013, and made a deal focusing on 4K content with Sony in Jan. 2014. The first series to receive the 4K treatment was Netflix’s own House of Cards this April. The company also plans to release its original series Orange is the new Black in 4k, with other shows to follow.
