Glympse, a real time location sharing startup, has come to Kindle Fire

Glympse, the pioneer in real-time location sharing technology, today announced Glympse for Kindle Fire, as well as a new feature-rich version of the app, developed specifically for Windows Phone 8. The new Glympse for WP8 incorporates features not previously available on the Windows Phone, like the ability to share with others via international phone numbers and the ability to update a user’s location while the app is in the background. “We have received thousands of emails and tweets from avid Glympse users who want to use all the great features of Glympse on their Windows Phone or their Kindle Fire tablet,” said Darren Austin, vice president of product, Glympse. “Today’s announcement is a result of popular demand, and we are excited to enhance the experience for our loyal fans.”

The name Glympse might be familiar to some of us, as they happen to be a pioneer in real time location sharing technology, and we are proud to bring you word that Glympse for Kindle Fire is now available, in addition to a spanking new feature-rich version of the app that has been specially developed for Windows Phone 8. In fact, the new Glympse for WP8will boast of features that could not be found in the past on Windows Phone, including the ability to share with others through international phone numbers, not to mention updating your location with the app itself running in the background. This must have come about after thousands of requests in the form of emails and tweets from Glympse users who want to see such features of Glympse on their Windows Phone device or Kindle Fire tablet. This Kindle Fire app would mean it is the first time Glympse has stepped into the Amazon device ecosystem, delivering a new method for users to have a dynamic, temporary manner to share their location with others. All you need to do is pick a recipient via the phone number, email or social network, let the program know how long your want your location to be available, and send. All of the sender’s movements can be followed in real-time on a mobile or web browser.
