Amazon has launched an online wearable tech store in the UK

Amazon.co.uk has revealed a new store dedicated to wearable technology. The store features more than 100 wearable tech devices. Amazon revealed a wearable technology section for its U.S. site back in April 2014. The devices in the new U.K. store include fitness trackers, smart watches, and wearable cameras. Andrew Milliken, Amazon.co.uk’s director of consumer electronics, told Wired that wearable technology sales have taken off over the past year. The new store is designed to give customers the information they need to understand these new devices. Among the brands featured in the store are Sony, Samsung, and GoPro, according to Digital Spy. Vice-president of EU Retail at Amazon Xavier Garambois told the news source that today, people can charge their phones through their clothing, monitor their clothing, and track their pets through wearable devices. This store offers one go-to place where people can purchase technology to access these conveniences.

As if we needed more proof, we can now be sure that wearable technology is firmly established as a product category in its own right and is here to stay. We know this because online retail giant Amazon.co.uk has seen fit to open its own wearable technology store, where you can spend hours browsing through pretty much every piece of wearable kit imaginable. The store, which is open for business now, features more than 100 different wearable tech products, which range from fitness trackers to smart watches, smart glasses and wearable cameras. Wearables by their very nature often fall into more than one of these categories, but you’ll be able to choose between devices from mainstream brands like Sony and Samsung, established wearable brands like Jawbone, Garmin and GoPro and newer companies like Misfit and Withings. “Sales of wearable technology devices have taken off in the last year with many customers already using them on a daily basis,” said Andrew Milliken, Amazon.co.uk’s director of consumer electronics.” With designs continually becoming simpler, smaller, and more stylish, devices have become increasingly useful and fit seamlessly into everyday life. As well as offering the biggest selection, the focus is also on providing customers with all the information they need to understand these new devices and make the best possible choice.” Also available is a Learning Centre that will offer product details, images, reviews, in-depth buying guides and compatibility information — a good call on Amazon’s part given that not all wearables are compatible with the devices you might assume they are. We would seriously recommend checking this out before investing in any wearable device.
