The Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is reportedly heading to Verizon

If you think that your smartphone is one tough cookie, then think again if you are not using the Sony Xperia Z2, as that particular model could which was encased in a block of ice continued to work when it was thawed, now how about that when it comes to mainstream longevity? Well, there were whispers going around earlier today that Verizon could be bringing the Sony Xperia Z2, but it seems that it will not be the handset that will appear on Big Red, but rather, the Xperia Z2 tablet itself, at least according to an anonymous tipster. Apparently, the anonymous tipster claims that the Xperia Z2 which appeared on the screenshot was actually a reference to a tablet device with the same namesake, after allegedly having gone through a training course. It was pointed out that the training material happened to touch on all things tablet, which means Verizon might just skip the Sony Xperia Z2 handset in the end.

On Monday, we showed you a screenshot revealing that Verizon is training its reps on the Sony Xperia Z2, bringing hope to those Big Red customers who were hoping to pick up the phone at a subsidized price. But another anonymous tipster revealed to us today that the Xperia Z2 that appeared on the screenshot, was actually a reference to the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. According to a source who went through the training course, the device that was the subject of the webinar was indeed the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. A Sony rep discussed the slate and demonstrated its features. As our tipster pointed out, the training material was all about the tablet, which means that Verizon probably won’t be getting the Xperia Z2 handset after all. On the other hand, this information confirms a leak tweeted by evleaks back in May, when the serial leaker revealed that Verizon would be offering Sony’s top-shelf tablet. It also follows up on a picture we showed you last month of a Verizon branded Xperia Z2 slate. The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet offers a 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. Under the hood is a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 CPU with the Adreno 330 GPU crunching graphics. 3GB of RAM is on board with 16GB of native storage inside. A 64GB capacity microSD slot is available for those who desire extra memory. The back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 8.1MP and 2.2MP respectively, while the 6000mAh battery keeps the lights on. Android 4.4 is pre-installed.
