Verizon officially announces the HTC Desire 612

A few days ago, a certain HTC Desire 612 was spotted on Verizon’s website. It wasn’t exactly the most powerful Android handset we’ve seen, but we suppose it would appeal to those looking for a relatively inexpensive device. Well the good news is that Verizon has since officially announced the HTC Desire 612.

AT&T is already selling the HTC Desire 610, and now Verizon wants in on that game. The carrier nicknamed ‘Big Red’ has taken to asking HTC for a slight redesign, however, and with that comes a new name too. Verizon will be offering the HTC Desire 612 starting on October 9 (which is this Thursday). The new look isn’t the only thing that’s different about Verizon’s 612 – its screen is higher-res than that of the Desire 610 too. It’s still a 4.7-inch panel, but with 720p HD resolution (and not 540×960 qHD).
