OnePlus Two confirmed for mid-2015 release

The OnePlus One was recently in the limelight, where it was mentioned that India’s version of it will be on the receiving end of an Android 5.0 Lollipop-based ROM. Having said that, there were also whispers at the end of last month that claimed the sequel to the OnePlus One would come with its fair share of hardware surprises. Well, it seems that we finally have official word the sequel to the flagship smartphone, where it will be known as the OnePlus Two.

While the OnePlus One has only launched in India today, rumors around its successor are already circulating on the Internet. Carl Pei, Director of OnePlus Global, has now told BGR India that the company plans on launching the OnePlus Two by the third quarter of next year. “We are planning to announce the OnePlus Two in Q2 or Q3 next year,” Pei said. “So it is one year after this phone [OnePlus One].” Asked whether the company plans on launching the forthcoming smartphone in India, Pei had some positive news saying, “India will be one of the first countries we will launch the OnePlus Two in.” As per rumors circulating online, the OnePlus Two could feature a smaller display, and will also be slightly more expensive than the One. While there aren’t any details around the kind of hardware it will sport, a Business Insider source was recently quoted as saying that there will be some “surprises in store when it comes to hardware.” He however refrained from elaborating any further.
