Google admits that it messed up with the Nexus 6

Considering that the Nexus 6 has been sold out practically since it launched back in November it has become pretty clear that Google wasn’t even close to being ready to meet demand. Google’s CFO admitted this at an earnings call yesterday, saying that the company wasn’t able to secure enough inventory to meet the demand that it had anticipated.

A Google executive has finally admitted what we all knew: they blew it when it came to selling the Nexus 6. The mea culpa came from Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette during Google’s earnings call on Thursday. “While the Nexus 6 was well received as a new phone, we had real issues and were unable to secure sufficient inventory to meet the demand that we had forecasted,” he said. The phone has been sold out almost the entire time since its November launch. Usually when it goes back on sale, the supply doesn’t last beyond a couple of hours. On Friday the Midnight Blue and Cloud White models were sold out in 64GB variations but available in 32GB models. The projected ship date is listed as February 6th.
