I’m sure many of you have heard about the recent hack on CENTCOM’s Twitter and YouTube pages by a pro-ISIS group known as the Cyber Caliphate. It may surprise you that the “group” may have actually been one man, a 20-year-old British hacker by the name of Junaid Hussain. At least, that’s what some investigators believe.
A 20-year-old British hacker who was once jailed for publishing former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s personal details, is said to be the leader of the group behind the hack of CENTCOM’s Twitter account on Monday. Investigators believe the hacker, whose real name is Junaid Hussain, heads up “Cyber Caliphate,” a hacking group that supports the Islamic State, and is responsible for multiple hacks on Twitter accounts, according to Reuters. It’s unclear, however, if Hussain was personally involved in hacking the Twitter account of CENTCOM, a U.S. organization that oversees military operations in the Middle East.
