Sony’s smartglasses have made an appearance at the FCC

A bunch of companies jumped onto the smartglasses bandwagon after Google launched Google Glass and, although Glass was more or less a failure, companies such as Sony still haven’t given up on their own devices. The company released an SDK for its SmartEyeglass not too long ago and now it looks like the smartglasses have made their way to the FCC for approval. 

The Sony SmartEyeglass software developer kit was released not too long back, and it looks as though the Japanese firm might just have the right kind of hardware to accompany the currently lonely software kit in due time. Why do we say so? Well, apparently, a listing for a Sony SmartEyeglass has recently made an appearance over at the FCC, which does point in the direction of the company flexing its muscles to start distributing its take on the wearable computer market in the near future. The Sony SmartEyeglass is said to function in a somewhat similar manner as that of the now defunct Google Glass. Google’s version of its head-up display does place a small transparent lens right above one of your eyes, but the Sony SmartEyeglass takes a different route with transparent lenses that you wear in the same manner as that of a pair of glasses.
