HBO GO has finally made its way to the PlayStation 4

The PlayStation 4 may be dominating the Xbox One in terms of sales but the Xbox One is the clear winner when it comes to support for third-party entertainment apps. Whereas the Xbox One received an official HBO GO app back in November, the PlayStation 4 didn’t receive one until just now. Fortunately, HBO GO has officially arrived on the PlayStation 4 after more than a year of waiting.

The wait is over. PlayStation 4 owners will finally be able to stream HBO movies and shows right on their consoles. Sony on Tuesday announced an HBO Go app for the PlayStation 4 will be available later today. The service had been available on both Sony and Microsoft’s last-generation consoles and arrived on the Xbox One this past November. PlayStation 4 owners, however, were left waiting and hoping for a drawn-out 15 months. The HBO Go app will be available as free download in PlayStation Store. The service gives HBO subscribers access the company’s entire library of shows, including “The Sopranos” and “Game of Thrones,” as well as a rotating selection of movies. While an HBO subscription through a cable or satellite provider is currently required to a access the app, the network plans to offer a streaming-only subscription package later this year.
