Is it me or does the new Fantastic Four actually look good?

I never thought the day would come when I was actually looking forward to a Fantastic Four movie. However, the Silver Surfer days are behind us, and we now live in a world where movies based on comic books can actually be good. In fact, the can be exceptionally good, which is what I’m hoping the new Fantastic Four will be. Obviously a single trailer isn’t enough to judge a movie, but I still have high hopes.

20th Century Fox revealed the latest trailer for its reboot of the Fantastic Four and it’s the best one we’ve seen yet. With an inter-dimensional twist on the group’s origin story, we’re given a much better look at their powers, from The Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan) in “flame on” mode, to Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller) stretching his way out of trouble. The trailer also offers a closer look at The Thing (Jamie Bell), traditionally one of the hardest characters in the group to pull off realistically in live-action films due to his rocky exterior. You can judge for yourself how well the latest version fares versus past attempts, but what is clear throughout the trailer is that this is a darker, grittier Fantastic Four. Even Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman (Kate Mara) delivers the most powerful version of the character’s invisibility and force field powers we’ve ever seen in a live-action setting (an improvement that is more in keeping with the comic book version of the character’s stature within the team).
