Microsoft is bringing Xbox-like achievements to Windows 10

With the addition of achievements on the Xbox, Microsoft created an excellent way to encourage users to explore content and get more involved with the products. Apparently the company is looking to do the same thing with Windows 10, as the latest leaked build of the Technical Preview includes achievements for using the operating system.

On Friday, a new build of Windows 10 leaked and with it comes numerous updates to the OS. We have already seen some new animations and updated apps. Now it appears that achievements have been turned on too. If you have the build on your machine and you open up the Insider Hub, you will receive the message seen at the top of the post. Yours may look a bit different as mine was in French for some reason, but if you need a translation, take a look at the image below. Achievements are used to help entice users to explore content in a way they typically would not without the superfluous acknowledgement by these motivators. Still, the mechanism has shown to be quite popular with Xbox gamers and now it looks like they are coming to the desktop as well.

What do you think?
