LG’s Watch Urbane: The sexiest smartwatch you’ll never want to wear

LG has been pushing its Watch Urbane as a fashion-first smartwatch, with a price to match, but does that come at the cost of other things, like comfort or power? Well, the hardware is almost identical to the company’s G Watch R, which is a solid smartwatch, but as far as comfort goes, some reviewers have admitted that, although very nice looking, the Watch Urbane is very uncomfortable to wear.

The Watch Urbane, LG’s latest Android Wear smartwatch, is what you get when you take the company’s G Watch R, replace its plastic case with stainless steel and swap out the generic leather strap with a stitched one. The Urbane is LG’s attempt at making a fashion-first smartwatch — a luxe wearable to compete with the likes of the sexy Apple Watch. At $349, the Urbane is the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch you can buy right now. (That’ll change soon enough once Tag Heuer launches its $1,400 Android Wear smartwatch.) If the name and all the chronograph watch faces didn’t clue you in already, the Urbane is a masculine smartwatch. Straight up, the Urbane is both thick and heavy — two major no-nos when it comes to a wrist-worn wearable. I admit, the stainless steel is sleeker looking — it’s got a touch of professional class — than the plastic G Watch R, but style doesn’t matter if it hurts to wear it.
