Windows 10 Mobile will now be updated directly by Microsoft

Enough is enough, according to Microsoft. The phone maker is taking charge of the update schedule on its Windows 10 mobile devices, taking the control away from carriers who normally work on their own schedule. This will make the phones more universal like Apple phones rather than more open like Android devices.

It’s not exactly Android-style fragmentation, but Windows Phone users are perennially frustrated at carriers dragging their feet on operating system updates. That’s all changing with Windows 10 Mobile, the company says. And this time they mean it.

What do you think?
