Apple’s big Apple Watch update is looking pretty sweet

Apple Watch users have something to look forward to this fall, as all the reports coming in seem to indicate that the upcoming watchOS 2 update for Apple’s smartwatch is a massive improvement in pretty much every way. The update focuses on adding customization options and helping developers create more complex apps, not to mention the ability to run many apps from the watch itself rather than having to use a companion smartphone. 

Apple Watch users looking to get more mileage out of their fancy new timepiece are in for a treat this fall. Not even two months since the wearable launched, Apple has detailed a big new update, highlighted by the ability to natively run third-party apps. If you were hesitant to buy the Apple watch because of its limited first-generation capabilities, watchOS 2 promises to amp things up considerably. For starters, the biggest enhancement coming in the next update is the ability to run your favorite apps right from the watch, rather than going through your phone. This will give developers the opportunity to make more complex apps that can take advantage of the Apple Watch’s hardware, like the Digital Crown and different sensors. Not to mention apps running directly on the watch should be faster, too, which is an issue early adopters complained about.
