Google wants to know what YOU think Android M stand for

What do you think Android M stand for? Android Marshamallow? Android Milkshake? Android Moon Pie? This is what Google employees Nat and Lo asked in a recent teaser video for the next version of Android. Releasing a teaser means that the company is closing to finally reveal the name to us, likely alongside the two Nexus smartphones that we’ve been hearing so much about?

With each major Android OS update comes a new dessert-themed name for it. Android 2.2 was Froyo, Android 4.0 was Ice Cream Sandwich, and Android 5.0 was Lollipop. Now we’re on Android M, and lots of folks are speculating which dessert the next Android update might be named after. Thankfully, that mystery may soon be solved. Google’s official @Android Twitter account today shared the music video you see above, which is a music video called “What’s M Gonna Be?” The song is performed by Nat and Lo and is all about wondering what M dessert the next big Android update will be named after. Some of the possibilities include Malt Ball, Milkshake, Moon Pie, M&M, and Mocha. While the video doesn’t really give any hints as to what the Android M update will officially be called, it does tell us to “Stay tuned…”, hinting that the name will be revealed soon. It’s tough to figure out what Android M’s dessert might be, because Google has used both generic desserts and name brands for past update names. Here’s to hoping that the M dessert is indeed revealed soon.

What do you think?
