When was the last time you went to a video rental store?  It has probably been a while, right?  That’s because services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have taken over with streaming and video rentals delivered right to your door.  Why would you go out for a movie when you can have one waiting for you in your mailbox when you get home from work?

Online sales and services have really tightened the screws on brick and mortar stores.  Places that used to be on every corner, like video stores, have disappeared from existence.  Only the strongest brick and mortar stores have survived.  After all, the convenience of getting what you need easily without leaving your house is a pretty strong pull.

The next time you need to shop for something obscure, ask yourself whether you’d rather click a few links or go out searching for days, going store to store.  Then consider whether your business could benefit from online sales.  When you operate a single brick and mortar store, your customer base is only as big as the people willing to drive to your store.  With an online storefront, your customer base is anyone with a computer, and it’s just a matter of time before you are the store that has what they need.  Learn more about the death of brick and mortar from this infographic.
