TAG Heuer has unveiled its first Android Wear-powered smartwatch

In an effort to prove that traditional Swiss watchmakers can still be relevant in a market that’s increasingly coming to favor fitness trackers and smartwatches, TAG Heuer officially unveiled its first Android Wear-powered smartwatch this morning. Known as the Connected, the smartwatch was developed in partnership with Google and Intel, and while the design is excellent, it lacks important features like health tracking, which is odd considering how the device is $1,500.

TAG Heuer has officially unveiled the Connected, it’s first Android Wear-powered smartwatch. The watch was developed in partnership between Intel and Google, and is constructed out of titanium. Based off of the Carrera Calibre design, the Connected has a 46mm face with a sapphire crystal touchscreen. It also features an IP67 water resistance rating. Customers will be able to choose from seven colorful textured rubber watch straps. However, if you want to shop online, you’ll only be able to purchase the black strap. The blue, red, white, yellow, green, and orange straps are only available in stores. As previously announced, the Connected doesn’t support health tracking functions. However, it is powered by Android Wear, allowing users to access the multitude of apps available for the platform. Users can change their watch faces easily, as well. The TAG Heuer Connected will go on sale in Europe on November 12, and the company is offering the watch in the US starting at noon on November 9. The Connected retails for $1,500.
