Xiaomi may finally announce the Mi5 on December 3rd

We have less than two months to go before the year comes to an end, and yet we still have no word from Xiaomi on when we can expect the highly-anticipated Mi5 to be released. The Chinese company has been conspicuously silent regarding its annual flagship, but many rumors have suggested that Xiaomi is waiting until the end of the year so that it can equip the Mi5 with the next-generation Snapdragon 820 chipset. Whatever the reason is, Xiaomi is still running out of time, so it’s easy to believe the recent rumor that the company intends to announce its long-awaited flagship on December 3rd.

The end of the year is closing in and, needless to say, there are tons of unreleased products to look forward to before 2015 comes to a close. One of them is the Xiaomi Mi5 – an upcoming flagship phone from one of China’s finest smartphone makers, rumored to feature a fingerprint scanner as well as a pressure-sensitive display. Another highly anticipated product is the Snapdragon 820 SoC which, as it happens, might end up powering the aforementioned Xiaomi Mi5. This leads us to a new rumor we came across earlier today, claiming that the Xiaomi Mi5 will be officially unveiled on the 3rd of December. Also, the same source adds that the Snapdragon 820 will make an official appearance on November 20th. According to a leakster with a very solid track record, the Xiaomi Mi5 will be “released” on December 3rd. Should the date stick, we suspect that the terminal will actually be unveiled on said date. As far as the release date, we suspect that this won’t happen until sometime in 2016. However, we wouldn’t be terribly upset if Xiaomi would actually release the Mi5 this year.
