Xiaomi claims the Mi5 was delayed to perfect the user experience

Xiaomi was originally planning to release a Snapdragon 810-powered Mi5 at the end of the year, but obviously that never happened, with many people suggesting that the company wanted to wait for the Snapdragon 820 to be released so that it wouldn’t have to deal with overheating issues. While that almost certainly had a part to play in the company’s decision to wait until next year to release the smartphone, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun claims the biggest reason for the delay was to ensure the Mi5 had the best user experience that Xiaomi could offer, and that it’s definitely going to be worth the wait. 

After the Xiaomi Mi5 had reached our headlines yesterday thanks to a comprehensive leak detailing the handset’s specifications and design cues, today the terminal has once again made its way on our front page thanks to a quote from the company’s CEO, Lei Jun. For a bit of background story, numerous analysts in China have previously predicted that the Xiaomi Mi5 will be the first smartphone equipped with Qualcomm’s latest chipset: the Snapdragon 820. Today, the CEO touched on this particular subject and hinted that although the Xiaomi Mi5 will use the SD 820, the company doesn’t care that much about being the first. Instead, Xiaomi has decided to aim for a greater user experience, which is why the company might take its time before making the Mi5 available to the public. As you’re probably already aware of, the Xiaomi Mi5 was initially planned for a market release earlier this year, rocking a Snapdragon 810 SoC. However, allegedly, due to the overheating issues experienced by the said chipset, the Mi5 was pushed back and redesigned with a Snapdragon 820 under the hood.
