Israel and the iPad are no longer friends.

Israel and the iPad are no longer friends.

People in Israel are still reading their newspaper the ‘old fashioned way’ as the iPad has been banned throughout the country. According to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, american Wi-Fi technology is broadcasted at a higher signal than is allowed in Israel and Europe. They say that the iPad could potentially interfere with other wireless technology and could pose potential security risks. Application developers are at a stand still because they have no legal way to get their hands on an iPad. Taken from the Huffington Post: Amnon, a software developer who legally brought an iPad…

Is Twitter on the decline? The numbers say so.

Is Twitter on the decline? The numbers say so.

I’m not sure what I would do these days without Twitter. I mean, if I don’t know what some people are doing or what they are eating for lunch, how can I make it though the day? Thankfully, Twitter lets me know all of this, but is it on the decline? What will I do with my free time now? PCWorld reports that numbers in Twitter land are significantly dropping. A study conducted by Barracuda Networks in December of 2009, looked at 19 million Twitter users and made assumptions from their research. The one assumption they made was: A “True” Twitter-er has at least 10 followers, follows at least 10 people and had…

Put your photos in the ring and watch them fight.

Put your photos in the ring and watch them fight.

Finally, a way for photographers to get their hands dirty and feel tough. Photobattle.me is a way to submit your photographs, sit back, and cheer from behind your monitor as the public chooses the best photo. This application, developed by Kyle Fox, will allow you to submit nine photos of your choice and will randomly put them up against another photo. If you are one of those indecisive people, and can’t choose which photo you like better or don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, there is a “SKIP BATTLE” button you can press and move onto the next battle. I guess it would be comparable to the “NEXT” button…

A view of Sussex, England through a tilt-shift lens. Real or fake?

A view of Sussex, England through a tilt-shift lens. Real or fake?

Tilt shift photography seems to be the next upcoming trend with photographers. What is tilt shift photography? “Tilt-shift photography” refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene. Sometimes the term is used when the shallow depth of field is simulated with digital postprocessing; the name may derive from the tilt-shift lens normally required when the effect is produced optically. “Tilt-shift” actually encompasses two different types of movements:…

iPad, Ustream and Bon Jovi team up to live stream sold out Dallas show tonight.

Tonight marks a new step for streaming live music with the iPad. Apple and Ustream have teamed up and will deliver Bon Jovi’s sold out Dallas show directly to the iPad. As it seems with all new Apple products, there always seems to be bugs with their first releases. I hope iPad users don’t get too upset if the feed cuts out right before the first chorus of Blaze Of Glory. Everyone will have to dust off their Young Guns 2 VHS tape and listen to that track on there. The thought of missing a Bon Jovi concert may be devastating for most but I can’t see the pleasure of viewing it on a 9.7 inch screen. Just like the newly…

Bladeless fan keeps everyone safe and cold

Bladeless fan keeps everyone safe and cold

Every so often we are graced with a product that actual makes practical sense. Yes the USB chiller bag kinda makes sense, but so does a fridge. Introducing The Bladeless Fan by Dyson. An amazing invention that has won Time magazine’s “Best Invention” award. How does it work? A turbine inside the base draws in air and propels it up to the loop amplifier. Air is expelled through a 1-mm slot along the circumference of the loop amplifier and across a 16ΒΊ airfoil-shaped ramp. Using the aerodynamic principles of inducement and entrainment, the fan draws air from behind and along its sides into the air stream,…

A look into the future with this Bionic Eye for the blind

A look into the future with this Bionic Eye for the blind

I guess we all should of seen this one coming. Ten years in the making, researchers at Bionic Vision Australia have developed an early prototype that when surgically inserted into your eye, will allow the user to see real-world applications. Its funny that I refer to the “human” who receives the surgery as a user. This is one step close to robots taking over the world, but at the same time I believe this is a much need invention and definitely will be a historic and breakthrough invention for years to come. I couldn’t imagine a world without vision. The Australian government has already invested close…

Throw out your remotes and control your electronics with your iPhone

Throw out your remotes and control your electronics with your iPhone

As we sit back and watch Apple slowly try and take over the world, it doesn’t help that application developers are quickly assisting their efforts. I’ll make a prediction that in ten years time, somehow the iPhone will be able to drive your car. This way you can sit at home, drive your new Apple electric car to the Apple grocery store, have an Apple grocery store employee fill your car with food, and drive it back home. All while watching Apple TV through your MacBook. Does it seem far fetched? Who knows, but five years ago, I didn’t think I would be able to control my household electronics with my cell phone….

People looking to pick up their iPads in a couple days just got some good news. Apple has made its camera connection kit available for pre-order. Coming in at a staggering $29, the connection kit consists of two plastic devices which insert into your iPad’s dock port. One device has a SD card reader on the end and the other has a USB capture device for people wanting to plug their cameras in directly. The connection kit supports all standard photo formats including RAW. I’ve been looking forward to this day for a while so I won’t have to carry my laptop around with me to small client shoots.
