E-mail you in the future

E-mail you in the future

Time capsules are fun to reflect back on a time in your life something occurred; most people will do it in high school or on their wedding day. There are various forms of time capsules, some put memorable items they treasure within a box and bury it to have it dug up later in life to reminisce. Others choose to create video time capsules or letters and since we are in a digital age it would be ideal to receive an e-mail from yourself in the future, and since we seem to hang onto our e-mail addresses forever this seems like an ideal option to recapture a moment in time or to send yourself some encouragement. …

A winning battleship USB hub

A winning battleship USB hub

Battleships are just plain awesome, they are in the game and for pirates so why not for our homes? USB connections look dull and boring and since we have such personality it would be nice for USB design’s to represent our cords to our devices nicely. …

The ultimate iPhone 5 parody

The ultimate iPhone 5 parody

You have to admit, the iPhone 5 release of being taller and slender was not really worth its development, however the spoofs and parodies that have come from its release have added some funnies into my daily routine. IMHO (in my humble opinion), the laughs are worth more than the phone. Right about now I feel sorry for anyone who stood in a line-up to get the iPhone 5, since it seems to have been a waste of everyone’s time, everyone except YouTubers who cleverly know how to make fun of Apple. This is definitely the best find thus far for iPhone 5 YouTube parodies. …

UFO activity in July, 2012

We first started posting UFO activity last month with the August UFO activity, but we’re working our way backwards. There’s something up there. People can have their doubts all they want – the increase in video footage isn’t just about more people with video editing skills. It’s about more people with cell phones that capture the activity. See for yourself. * * * “UFO” image courtesy of Shutterstock….

3 Million Views for the Collective Soul Cat

3 Million Views for the Collective Soul Cat

What does it take to gain 3 million views on YouTube? Oh just a cat meowing to Collective Soul. Remember them? They were super popular in the 90’s and are now gaining more popularity via the Collective Soul Cat. If you have yet to see this amazing cat trick you need to become a part of the 3 million other viewers that have contributed to making this video a hit. …

The Paket Table for Squished Spaces

The Paket Table for Squished Spaces

Remember when mom and dad would have the small extra table in the basement for when family would come over for Thanksgiving dinner and fortunately for you it was your job to lug it upstairs chairs and all? Fortunately there have been many design’s that have been invented since those days and this generation will probably have less back problems because of it. One such design is the Packet table and chairs by Offi. …

Twitter confirms holding us hostage by revoking third-party app images

Today, a new Twitter app was announced for the iPad giving users the ability to do what you have always been able to do with a few added features here and there, but let’s be honest, you are simply tweeting 140 characters. So, the real news here is that Twitter has in fact confirmed that it will no longer allow images to be pulled by third-party apps, instead forcing its users to us their service that is powered by Photobucket. …

Levitating solutions may eventually be useful - today it

Levitating solutions may eventually be useful - today it's just pretty darn nifty

There’s a use, here. Argonne National Lab knows it. Most people who watch the video below would suspect it. Nobody’s quite sure what that use is, but for now it’s enough to know that it can be done. By using sound waves, the lab has discovered a way to make solutions containing different pharmaceuticals float in mid air.  Dropped from a syringe or even from a spoon, the droplets of liquid remain stationary within the field. As Argonne says on their site, it’s no magic show: It’s not a magic trick and it’s not sleight of hand – scientists really are using levitation to improve the drug development…

Geek picture of the day: the cassette iPod

Geek picture of the day: the cassette iPod

For those of old enough to remember the wonders of the original Walkman, it represented a new freedom that we had never known before. The ability to go in so many places and perform activities such as jogging and biking while listening to music made it epic. MP3 players and the iPod in particular changed that, of course, but now old-schoolers can reminisce with the Cassette Tape to MP3 Converter for the iPod….

Stunt puddy: incredible substance helps you take a hammer to your head

Stunt puddy: incredible substance helps you take a hammer to your head

Stunt actors. Security professionals. Skateboarders. Fighters and other athletes. The list of people who could use D30 padding is long. The material uses “intelligent molecules” to absorb heavy impacts while maintaining complete flexibility. Basically, it’s like a putty during normal situations – it can be molded, stretched, and flattened with relatively little pressure applied. During impacts, the molecules lock together to absorb the shock. While we don’t recommend taking a hammer to your head in real life, they do it in the video below. …

UFO activity in August, 2012

UFO activity in August, 2012

There are two things at work right now in the world of UFO sightings. On one hand, the increasing number of people with cameras in their pockets at all times through their mobile devices makes it more likely that unidentified flying objects will be captured on video. On the other hand, the improved technology in the field of computer generated imagery makes it almost impossible to tell the difference between real and fake. The best UFO sightings of last month were compiled by AnonymousFO. Some are so clearly fake that it’s unfortunate that they even made the video, but others seem to be about as real…

Awesome Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter fan video

Awesome Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter fan video

Every time I hear about a fan-made real-life gaming video, I get discouraged. There have been some pretty good ones over the years but the vast majority of them are amateur at best, insulting at worst. This one, coming to us from @gvoakes, is pretty epic. It combines great real-life special effects but does very well at keeping the two-dimensional feel associated with the gameplay. It pits a pair of the best fighting games of all time against each other. On one side, you have Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. On the other side, you have Ryu from Street Fighter. Who won? The video lets you vote at the end. …
