Cute as they were, and even being a Mac user myself, I always found the Get A Mac campaign to be a huge, unfair middle finger to PC users. With all the ballyhoo Google’s brought over Google TV in the last 36 hours, it would seem that people are about to get excited over television again. Man, you continually have to give Japan credit – now it’s got its sights on the World Cup, and those sights are in 3D. When I say ‘World Cup’ I mean ’2022′, and when I say ’3D’, I mean ‘holograms’. Well, that was fast. Only a few days ago did Toby muse at the official Twitter client’s imminent roll out, and it must have heard him, because later that day, there it was, chillin’ out max and relaxin’ all cool and shootin’ some b-ball outside of the App Store. Oddly, that was all it could do, but glitches aside, it’s now readily-downloadable and has rocketed to the #1 free app almost instantly. Apple has hit 200 thousand units sold per week for the iPad. If you’re bad at math, that’s more or less a couple of iPads. Amazingly, this figure is also a pretty big milestone – according to Mike Abramsky, an analyst for RBC Capital Markets, this means the iPad is now outselling the Mac itself. The hits just keep coming from Google I/O in San Francisco today – Google TV, Android 2.2, an iTunes competitor – it’s been an impressive day thus far.
