iPed Launches For $105 in China, Runs On Android

iPed Launches For $105 in China, Runs On Android

Sounding more like a banned iPhone app than a tablet, the iPed is exactly what you’re probably thinking: a Chinese knockoff. Now available (!!!) in Shenzhen, China, the iPed is an Intel-driven, Android-based copycat packaged like an Apple product and, to be honest… it doesn’t look half bad. An Android device for Â¥9,600 ($105)? Yes, please. However, this device isn’t without its shortcomings. From the looks of this video, it’s mighty, mighty slow. Though allegedly powered by an Intel chip, the device apparently only sports up to 16gigs of space, and runs on 128mb of RAM – in this technological…

iPhone Killer Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin

iPhone Killer Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin

Ronen Kadushin could very well be the cleverest product designer out there; he has developed, simply and gracefully, a device which is a definite iPhone killer. And he did it by himself. ‘Unpossible!’ you cry. And I, too, was a non-believer, until I saw the device. It is a truly innovative concept that will effectively end any iPhone that crosses its path. Made from laser-cut 25mm brushed steel, the iPhonekiller, as Kadushin has so boldly and poignantly named his device, subtly echoes the lines of Apple’s phone, adding only insult to injury. A product to terminate the iPhone if I’ve ever seen one….

iPad Suits - Because You

iPad Suits - Because You'll Need Both Hands for the Ladies

I bet you’ve been wondering how to most stylishly deal with life’s big question: ‘But where do I put my iPad?’ Lucky for you, Mohan’s of New York has you covered, offering dapper power suits that conveniently stow your most magical possession. These are almost as sexy as the tablet itself. Okay, so ‘convenient’ is a matter of perspective, I guess. Have you ever tried hiding a large book under your jacket? It isn’t exactly a party. And an iPad sure is more fragile than a book. And it probably totally shows through the front of the suit a bit. And I bet it unevenly weights your jacket, leaving you to tug uncomfortably…

Is Google Getting All Passive-Aggressive Up In Steve Jobs

Is Google Getting All Passive-Aggressive Up In Steve Jobs' Grill?

Steve Jobs has been called many things – a visionary, a criminal, an entrepreneur extra-ordinary, and Santa Claus. But it appears Google Autocomplete has something to say about Jobs, too. Typing ‘Steve Jobs is’ into Google’s search field will net the curious viewer some equally curious commentary about Apple’s CEO before even slamming the search button, attacking and insulting Jobs from all angles, including race, religion, and… punctuality? Heavens, no! While it’s every bit as likely that these are just the honest-to-goodness most oft-aggregated search terms, it’s interesting nonetheless,…

Steve Jobs and the Awesome Soap on a Rope: Cartoon

Steve Jobs and the Awesome Soap on a Rope: Cartoon

Mark Anderson from Andertoons was kind enough to send this into us. With WWDC coming up in a few days, he thought he’d pen a comic about Steve warming up his hyperbole. Thanks Mark!…

5 iPad Apps of the Week

5 iPad Apps of the Week

With over a million sold in the US alone, the iPad hits nine more countries later in the week. We’ve taken a look at some of the insanely interesting apps available for the new Apple product, and here’s our weekly run-down of five of the most interesting iPad apps around. 1. Pro Keys $0.99 Want to play a little piano? You can, with an iPad and rather lovely app, Pro Keys Piano. This seems to be a lot of fun and has many different modes – there’s a variety of pianos, including a grand and an electric, an organ and many more. There’s fifteen instruments in all. The two visible keyboards can be set differently,…

The Second Generation of Apple TV Revealed

The Second Generation of Apple TV Revealed

A confirmed tip from a source very close to Apple points towards a new version of Apple TV on the horizon. According to sources, this project will tie in much more closely with Apple’s mobile offerings. The new build of the TV solution will be based directly off of the iPhone 4 (no word on apps and the App Store making an appearance as of yet), meaning it will have the exact same internal components including the A4 CPU and limited amount of flash storage (16GB) and will be capable of 1080 HD. The device has been said to be very small (maybe the same size as the iPhone?) with very few ports (only a power socket…

Jobzilla: iPad

Jobzilla: iPad's Japanese Launch A Hit

Well, that went well. Apparently the iPad is having a super launch day abroad, and perhaps nowhere better than in Japan, where they love their gadgets more than they love their families. Called a ‘frenzy’ by the Wall Street Journal, over a thousand people lined up, cash credit card in hand, to scoop up the all-American gadget. You’d think that of all nations, Japan would be able to crush Apple at its own game, at least locally. But apparently, that’s not the point. “Japanese products are very capable and powerful, but they don’t have the same charm as ones made by Apple,” said Kazuto Ishimura, a college…

iBookstore? More like DIYBookstore, Am I Right?

iBookstore? More like DIYBookstore, Am I Right?

For reasons unknown to me, the majority of the public is suddenly interested in books again, and Apple has finally revealed a way for emo kids the world over to publish their crappy poetry, ripe for the crying over, on the iPad. It’s totally cool that the iBookstore finally does for books what iTunes has always done for musicians, and the App Store for developers, but the process seems a little cumbersome. Simply register a valid US tax ID, convert your Word and InDesign files into ePub format, verify said ePub format files, and apply for an ISBN. If all that checks out, you’re on your way! Golly! Naturally,…

Apple Controls 70% of Digital Music Sold; 28 Percent of All Music Sales

Apple Controls 70% of Digital Music Sold; 28 Percent of All Music Sales

Apple’s iTunes music store controls a dominant share of the US digital music market with a 28 percent share of all music sold and 70 percent of all digital downloads. The NDP Group, a New York based market research firm, released its findings that iTunes’ share of retail digital download business in the US has increased by one percentage point since last year’s numbers to 70 percent. Both Walmart and Amazon hold the second place spot taking a 12 percent share of the total market for digital music and physical media sales. Amazon has increased its music market share by three percentage points,…

Steve Ballmer to Speak During WWDC Keynote?

Steve Ballmer to Speak During WWDC Keynote?

Steve Ballmer, the sweaty chief executive for Microsoft, may surprise us by playing a part in Apple’s keynote presentation at this year’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference. This, of course, is still all a rumor. But Trip Chowdhry, an analyst with Global Equities Research, insists that seven minutes of the June 7 keynote by Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been blocked off for rival Microsoft’s presentation on Visual Studio 2010. Chowdhry has reportedly stated that he believes Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer could give the presentation. And given his love for developers, it could be quite…
