If taking vitamins doesn’t keep you healthy enough, try more laughter. – Nicholas-Sebastien Chamfort The Health Monitor Network has just announced the release of their fun and lighthearted app – “Laugh Out Loud for Health.” HMN is focusing this app on encouraging users to shake their iPads and “LOL” for health. Even better? The app is completely free to download! With this app, jokes are readily available so that users can get laughing right away. The “LOL” app also features a calorie counter in order to track how many you’re burning while you’re shaking and dancing all over the place. The more…

iPad, Ustream and Bon Jovi team up to live stream sold out Dallas show tonight.

iPad, Ustream and Bon Jovi team up to live stream sold out Dallas show tonight.

Tonight marks a new step for streaming live music with the iPad. Apple and Ustream have teamed up and will deliver Bon Jovi’s sold out Dallas show directly to the iPad. As it seems with all new Apple products, there always seems to be bugs with their first releases. I hope iPad users don’t get too upset if the feed cuts out right before the first chorus of Blaze Of Glory. Everyone will have to dust off their Young Guns 2 VHS tape and listen to that track on there. The thought of missing a Bon Jovi concert may be devastating for most but I can’t see the pleasure of viewing it on a 9.7 inch screen. Just like the newly…

More Proof: Duct Tape Can Do Anything

More Proof: Duct Tape Can Do Anything

After forking out upwards of $500 for an iPad, your wallet might harbour some resentment towards you, so when it comes to stocking up on accessories there’s at least one that might offer a little cash relief. Frank Hsueh is clearly a man’s man, and as such understands that shelling out upwards of $45 for an iPad case is just for rich suckers. With duct tape already filling so many niches in society, it was only a matter of time before someone used it to make an iPad case, so kudos to Frank. As if this manly stroke of genius were not enough, Frank goes one step further. Having used up an entire roll of duct tape…

OS 4.0 Multitasking May Still Be An Option For Older iPhones

OS 4.0 Multitasking May Still Be An Option For Older iPhones

With the announcement of iPhone OS 4.0 last week, the big question on the lips of older iPhone owners was “which devices will support multitasking”. The official answer at the time was that the iPhone 3GS is as far back as support will be offered, with the reason suggested by John Gruber that the 3GS has 256mb of RAM, while all previous devices have only 128mb. There is a small ray of hope for users of the older models however, in the predictable form of a jailbreak option. For users willing to take this risk and live outside Apple’s big brother-esque world, the optino to enable multitasking may be as simple…

The Fat Lady Has Tweeted

The Fat Lady Has Tweeted

As a Mac and iPhone twitter fan, I was personally thrilled to hear that Twitter has purchased Atebits, developer of Tweetie for Mac and iPhone. The Twitter blog provides more information on the story, noting that while Twitter is primarily a web app, there is definitely a need and want for desktop counterparts. “Careful analysis of the Twitter user experience in the iTunes AppStore revealed massive room for improvement. People are looking for an app from Twitter, and they’re not finding one. So, they get confused and give up. It’s important that we optimize for user benefit and create an awesome…

Apple's iPhone 4.0 OS Jailbroken Less Than One Day After Announcement

Within 24 hours of Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 4.0 OS beta, a hacker from the iPhone Dev Team who goes by the handle of MuscleNerd announced that he had jailbroken the OS. The process of “jailbreaking” allows users to run apps not authorized by Apple on their phone. Musclenerd advised that people should avoid installing the pre-release betas on their primary phones, as they are very buggy and can pose security concerns. Since this is a beta, Apple will likely plug up these holes before the official release of the iPhone 4.0 OS. Source: Apple Insider…

Adobe Developer Flashes Some Drama at Apple

Adobe Developer Flashes Some Drama at Apple

Lee Brimelow is a Flash evangelist and developer at Adobe, and the author of the Flash Blog. Needless to say, Brimelow is less than pleased at Apple’s decision to “slap developers in the face” by removing Flash support on the iPhone OS 4 update. While the blog was obviously changed at his employer’s request after the fact, before the redaction Brimelow had typed “What is clear is that Apple has timed this purposely to hurt sales of CS5.” What has remained on the blog is the resounding conclusion of “Go screw yourself Apple” and the fact that Brimelow refuses to purchase any Apple products under there…

With 3D iPad Storybook, Publishers Finally Showing They Might Get It

With 3D iPad Storybook, Publishers Finally Showing They Might Get It

“Once upon a time, in a land that isn’t really that far away, there were a bunch of book publishers who lacked imagination and, when presented with new technologies like touchscreens, said ‘let’s make books exactly the same, only digital…’”. Well no more, kids! No more! See Here Studios have put together an interactive storybook for the iPhone and iPad called “The Wrong Side of the Bed” that has both 2D and 3D versions, the video of which is above. Young readers of the tale can pinch and zoom and have the app read the story to them. If you don’t have any old 3D glasses kicking around, you can also order…

Trend of T.V. Parenting Shifting to the iPad

Trend of T.V. Parenting Shifting to the iPad

I can definitely remember many mornings spent sitting in front of the t.v. It’s flickering glow keeping me warm and shows like ‘Sesame Street’ filling my brain with the alphabet and other things a small child should learn about. My mother was running around the house gathering extra sweaters, preparing lunches and signing field trip forms. She didn’t have time to entertain or educate us every single moment so she plopped us in front of the next best thing: the television. If I had been growing up now, you probably would’ve seen my brother and I, pyjama-clad, sitting in front of the warm glow of an iPad….

Why Apple

Why Apple's iAd Platform Is A Big Deal

When Apple announced their iAd advertising platform yesterday, it’s possible many excited iPhone users yawned a bit. What was this going to change? Well, the answer to that question is: a lot. Jobs himself explained why: right now, mobile advertising sucks. You either see a tiny text ad that gives very little information, or you see a large ad in an app that, once you click on it, takes you out of the application and into the browser, ruining the seamlessness of your experience. Worse, because ads are so terrible, the mobile market remains both massive and untapped; there are tens of millions of people…

The iPad Gets A Stylus, Well, Unofficially

The iPad Gets A Stylus, Well, Unofficially

The iPad has been dubbed as a device for content consumption and not creation, but one person wasn’t willing to live with that. Adam Kumpf went as far to actually create his own stylus for the iPad so he could better interact with art-focused applications on the iPad. It works too. The stylus was created by using materials like conductive foams, fabrics and some everyday items including an anti-static sock and pencil. Patience helps as well. As can be seen in the video above, it actually seems to work flawlessly, and it looks like fun too. Maybe this could serve as a legitimate replacement for those…
