Pray to Jobs with Stained Glass Motherboards

Pray to Jobs with Stained Glass Motherboards

Straight outta the Church of Obsolescence comes Dan Beville, stonemason and apparent architect for the Cult of Holy Tech. Having been donated a pile of old motherboards, Dan has paid tribute to Our Lady of Computing Eternal by constructing these totally opposite of not rad stained, uh… silicon windows, set in a sandstone frame. I can’t imagine he didn’t spend some long man hours on these. Big propers, Dan! Oh, I just noticed the devil’s playing a fiddle. Adorable. [Via Overclockers]…

Taking a Leisurely Swim With Your iPad? There

Taking a Leisurely Swim With Your iPad? There's a Cover For That.

Waterwear is a plastic bag that you can put your iPad into allowing for heavy iPad use on the beach, in the kitchen, by the pool and even in the shower or bubble bath. Why is it cool? It allows for full iPad functionality in all elements and comes with a handy strap for those who can’t unhook from technology long enough to take a shower. I can see using this at the beach reading it but I can’t imagine walking in on someone sitting under the showerhead with their iPad in hand. I wonder if this new iPad condom will ship with a voucher for group therapy sessions for those who cannot put their device down. Enough…

iPhone Killer Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin

iPhone Killer Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin

Ronen Kadushin could very well be the cleverest product designer out there; he has developed, simply and gracefully, a device which is a definite iPhone killer. And he did it by himself. ‘Unpossible!’ you cry. And I, too, was a non-believer, until I saw the device. It is a truly innovative concept that will effectively end any iPhone that crosses its path. Made from laser-cut 25mm brushed steel, the iPhonekiller, as Kadushin has so boldly and poignantly named his device, subtly echoes the lines of Apple’s phone, adding only insult to injury. A product to terminate the iPhone if I’ve ever seen one….

iPad Suits - Because You

iPad Suits - Because You'll Need Both Hands for the Ladies

I bet you’ve been wondering how to most stylishly deal with life’s big question: ‘But where do I put my iPad?’ Lucky for you, Mohan’s of New York has you covered, offering dapper power suits that conveniently stow your most magical possession. These are almost as sexy as the tablet itself. Okay, so ‘convenient’ is a matter of perspective, I guess. Have you ever tried hiding a large book under your jacket? It isn’t exactly a party. And an iPad sure is more fragile than a book. And it probably totally shows through the front of the suit a bit. And I bet it unevenly weights your jacket, leaving you to tug uncomfortably…

Kevin Rose Breaks Out a Shovel, Dishes Some Dirt on the New Digg

Kevin Rose Breaks Out a Shovel, Dishes Some Dirt on the New Digg

I was sorta worried abut the ‘New Digg’ that’s been in the works for the last little while – with founder Kevin Rose touting a more social experience being brought to the Diggosphere, I was worried he might pull a Facebook and just attempt to emulate Twitter. By the looks of this video, he has done exactly that. However, he actually makes it seem like a smart idea. The new Digg offers content aggregation on two levels – the first in a standard-issue Twitter-esque ‘friends and followers’ model, and, for the heavier stuff, the traditional Digg Top News. I gotta hand it to Kevin; this is not a bad idea. I personally…

Four Trends That Will Change How You Use Tech

Four Trends That Will Change How You Use Tech

Despite the breathless pace of change and innovation in the tech world, when you think about it, a lot of how we interact with technology has stayed pretty much the same for years. After all, if the numbers are anything to go by, it’s quite likely that many of you are reading this very post on a computer with a regular keyboard and either a mouse or a trackpad. When you go home and watch TV, it will be with a remote control, the design of which hasn’t changed for a few decades. And it’s been this way for a long time now. But you gotta wonder: where is the future of interfaces? Weren’t we supposed to be controlling…

The Cutest Robot You

The Cutest Robot You've Ever Feared

Hey, y’know Bait Car? Bait Car is great. Bait Car is frequently hilarious. Bait Car comes from Canada. Bait Car has a website. If you’re still lost, just Youtube ‘Bait Car’. This post is absolutely not about Bait Car. At least, not quite. That picture what you’re putting in your eyeholes, there, is a design concept for the MIMO Autonomous Mobile Robot, and while it is not Bait Car, it operates in the same spirit – that is, to deter and frighten would-be criminals out of doing that crime thing they like to do. So what the hell is this thing? Well, it’s not immediately clear, and once the entire scope of this…

Toshiba Takes a Swing at Yesteryear

Toshiba Takes a Swing at Yesteryear's Technology

Man, gestural interfaces are really starting to gain ground, aren’t they? Apparently, touch was never enough. Toshiba’s been working on something pretty cool. Yeah, that’s it, just cool. No customary ‘rad!’ or ‘awesome!’ from me. S’just cool. I’ll explain momentarily. The AirSwing is an interface that uses a webcam to superimpose the image of the user onto the screen, that they might wave their hands all over some content and make magic happen. I was under the impression they were just using a really, really crappy high-gloss monitor in the video for a full three minutes. Now, this is sort of puzzling….

For The Gentleman Who Has Everything, and Needs Somewhere To Put It

For The Gentleman Who Has Everything, and Needs Somewhere To Put It

There’s never a shortage of interesting storage options for the full spectrum of geek chic. Earlier this week, I showed you guys concrete USB drives, for the gentleman interested in walking softly and carrying a really big stick. For the yet-more sophisticated gentlesir, today I impress upon you nothing short of USB cufflinks. You know, for those times you absolutely need to bring some porn or your DVD rip of The Dark Knight to a funeral. Designer Ravi Ratan is particularly smug about his 4GB links (2x2GB), providing an unprompted ‘you’re welcome’ on the cufflinks.com listing. Gotta appreciate…

New Business Card Goes Beyond Paper

New Business Card Goes Beyond Paper

Business cards have always been just that: cards with business information on them. A new design threatens to shatter this mold and move us into the next generation of cards. This revolutionary design is a fully functional circuit board business card about the same size of a credit card; with your business information on the top side while the bottom is reserved for the circuits. The cool part of this card is that it has been carefully designed to hold 24 kb of information, enough to hold your entire resume, and can be inserted into a USB port once the two plastic tabs have been snapped off. They don’t…

Sony Debuts OLED Screen That Can Wrap Around a Pencil

Sony Debuts OLED Screen That Can Wrap Around a Pencil

Sony has announced today that it has just developed a hyper-flexible color OLED display that can be wrapped around a cylinder as thin as a pencil. The display is thinner than a strand of hair at 80 μm-thick with a 4.1 inch, 121 ppi, and Organic Thin Film Transistor (OTFT) full color OLED display. To create this display Sony developed OTFTs with an original organic semiconductor material with eight times the current modulation of conventional OTFTs. Using these new technologies, Sony has successfully demonstrated the worlds first OLED panel which is capable of reproducing moving images while…

Gadget or Furniture? Either Way It

Gadget or Furniture? Either Way It's a Bad-Ass Mirror

Have you ever wanted to check the weather while doing your makeup or, for us men, shaving? What about having the time displayed so you can keep track of how long it takes to do your hair?  Roca’s new high tech mirror may be just what you are looking for. It features an FM radio, allowing you to listen to all your favorite stations while in the shower or getting ready in front of it. It also has the ability to connect to an auxiliary audio source, like an iPod; all this is controlled by button-less light up LEDs in the bottom corner. Next are the clock and temperature displays also lit by LEDs, giving you no…
