No. Fracking. Way. This Battlestar Galactica Car is Street Legal

No. Fracking. Way. This Battlestar Galactica Car is Street Legal

This formal US Postal Service Jeep has been transformed into a contraption that the most hardened fighter jock could climb into after a night of gambling and hard drinking of ambrosia in the pilot’s mess. Yes, Dean Shorey, the master ride mechanic for Seabreeze Amusement Park in Rochester, NY has created a vehicle that may actually make a hardened geek cry more than a silver Delorian. And it’s street legal. STREET LEGAL. You can drive this baby on the motherfracking highway. It uses a Chevy engine block and features a cassette deck, appropriate low-tech for the “no networked computers on MY SHIP”…

Skin to Be Bioprinted Onto Burn, Accident Victims By New Technology

Skin to Be Bioprinted Onto Burn, Accident Victims By New Technology

The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine has come up with a new technique of skin grafting that works like a printer to improve the treatment of anyone who is unfortunate enough to lose skin. Dr. Anthony Atala calls the new technique “bioprinting” and has already set up machines to do it in the laboratory doing initial scans on mice. A laser first scans the wound to feed information to the machine, and the “printer” then sprays two layers of cells onto the wound. The cells take care of the rest. This technique allows skin to heal within two weeks as opposed to five if left untreated. The next…

It's Time to Break Up With Your OS

In the world of cloud computing where Google is pushing Chrome OS as a browser and operating system (OS) to manage all your online apps, we’re no longer required to stick to the one computer. You can break free of all those apps designed for use on one operating system only. You can be free of your OS. We live in a time where spreadsheets can be managed in a browser, accessed by multiple people in many locations. Collaborative works can evolve as quickly as it takes to do the actual work. No-one needs to fuss around with managing who’s in charge of the master document and ensuring everyone has the updated…

Futuristic Faucets Put Old-School Sinks to Shame

Futuristic Faucets Put Old-School Sinks to Shame

Kitchen and bathroom accessories have become increasingly futuristic and ..just plain awesome, over the last few years. Take a look at some new contemporary designs – maybe you’ll find one that will complement your style or decor perfectly. Trend of T.V. Parenting Shifting to the iPad

Trend of T.V. Parenting Shifting to the iPad

I can definitely remember many mornings spent sitting in front of the t.v. It’s flickering glow keeping me warm and shows like ‘Sesame Street’ filling my brain with the alphabet and other things a small child should learn about. My mother was running around the house gathering extra sweaters, preparing lunches and signing field trip forms. She didn’t have time to entertain or educate us every single moment so she plopped us in front of the next best thing: the television. If I had been growing up now, you probably would’ve seen my brother and I, pyjama-clad, sitting in front of the warm glow of an iPad….

Digital Economy Bill Could Allow Governments To Block Wikileaks

Digital Economy Bill Could Allow Governments To Block Wikileaks

The Digital Economy Bill that recently passed in the UK and is being pushed upon many other countries around the world. It has some very discouraging text in it that could hurt innovation, forcing the methods of old on people and ways of new. But all that pales in comparison to what this bill could allow governments to do: it could allow them to entirely block sites like Wikileaks.org that post government documents and exposes the truth (like leaked documents), and we would have no power to stop it. This power could come from clause 8 in the bill that would allow certain government officials to block…

If I Had Three iPhones, I

If I Had Three iPhones, I'd Be Singing Too

And, to your left, we have an adorable young girl phonetically recreating last year’s Beyonce hit with the help of three iPhones. My biggest question has nothing to do with her musical ability (which is reasonably superb, by the by), but more to do with how the hell she can afford three iPhones, much less their bills. Okay, yeah, maybe they’re iPod Touches. Whatever. Just watch the video. [Via CrunchGear]…

Brailect Opens up All Books for Visually Impaired

Brailect Opens up All Books for Visually Impaired

This futuristic-looking device is the Brailect. It is designed to be worn on the hand/arm and fits almost like a glove. It allows users to translate any text into Braille and the device even has a feature to turn text into audio. This concept is a great idea because even though books are now made in Braille, the number of publications available are limited. After doing some research, the difference between regular books and versions in Braille is significantly different. Regular text books are available absolutely everywhere but Braille versions are a lot harder to find. Most are sold through…

Pixelated Characters Take Over The World!

Pixelated Characters Take Over The World!

Mama always said video games were going to ruin the next generation – and now look what’s happened! In this delightful short film by One More Productions, a cloud of pixels is released from a old rundown TV and form into a series of well-known video game icons and characters. As if you needed to ask, they then proceed to then wreak  a great deal of highly enjoyable havoc. What’s worse, they turn half the things they touch into more pixels! Disaster! If you have even the slightest sense of nostalgia for the video games of your youth, you will probably love this video. [Source: Geek Sugar]…

Super Mario Kicks Will Feel Awesome (Until You Get Jacked)

Super Mario Kicks Will Feel Awesome (Until You Get Jacked)

If you are at all familiar with the early nineteen-nineties, then you know that kids really liked three things: Super Mario; cool sneakers; and rolling other kids for their stuff. Well now, in a rather stylish nostalgic mash-up, you can relive the time and crime you may or may not  have ever experienced with these spiffy Super Mario sneakers. Nike has created these custom shoes featuring everyone’s favorite Italian plumber (who, for some reason, looks rather angry, right?). Rather than using a pixelated Mario or the design from, say, Super Mario Galaxy, these kicks have a nice meta touch and…
