Hulu Improves Its Website But Continues With Flash

Hulu Improves Its Website But Continues With Flash

Hulu, unfortunately, will not be offering an HTML5 player. Instead the website, offering commercial-supported streaming video, has decided to stick with the current Flash players… at least for the time being. Although the website promises to monitor the progress of developments made on HTML5, it’s VP says “as of now it doesn’t meet all of our customer’s needs.” This news has killed the rumor that the company was working on a site that would utilize HTML5 instead of Flash. This rumor comes from a report last August that claimed Hulu was only months away from developing a TV show watching…

Toshiba Promises to Hurt So Good with True Tactile Feedback

Toshiba Promises to Hurt So Good with True Tactile Feedback

Apple really likes to tout the iPod Touch (and, by extension, the iPhone and iPad) as a gaming platform. In response, serious gamers like myself tend to laugh and point, largely due to the iPod’s lack of tactile feedback. ‘Button’ controlled iPod games are consistently a joke, and you can’t be a leading gaming platform on tilt-based games alone. But maybe there’s hope! Toshiba has gone and turned this whole tactile feedback problem on its ear by developing a technology that sounds like it fell right out of a William Gibson novel. ‘Senseg E-Sense’ works by making weak electric field changes to a special…

Stylus Knob Brings Rotation to the iPhone

Stylus Knob Brings Rotation to the iPhone

Twist, turn and twist it again. That pretty much sums up this neat little invention. The people at DsLabs came up with the idea of a physical knob having the same feel of your finger when applied to the screen. The point behind the invention is to make it easier to rotate objects on the screen. Since it’s so touchscreen friendly, not only does it work for the iPhone but it also works for the iPod touch and the iPad. The stylus knob was created with the same technology that other touchscreen-friendly styluses have, except this stylus only rotates. Source: UberGizmo, DsLabs…

The HTC Evo 4G is Landing on June 4th

The HTC Evo 4G is Landing on June 4th

The sleek phone is coming out on June 4th of this year from the phone provider Sprint for $200…too cheap for just hitting the market? Well, you guessed it, that’s after a mail-in rebate. The full price of this phone, you ask?..$450. Not too bad when it’s compared to the BlackBerry or Apple’s iPhone 3Gs, which could run you a bill past $699 without a three-year contract. This Android-powered Windows MAX phone runs on a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, it also has a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video-conferencing and so on, an 8 megapixel camera for shooting photos and videos and a large 4.3-inch…

Skype /shuns Windows Mobile 7 for iPhone and Android

Skype /shuns Windows Mobile 7 for iPhone and Android

Dan Neary, the Vice President for Skype, spoke at an event in Sydney today  stating that Skype will not be developing software for the new Windows mobile, Windows Phone 7 . Instead the company will be focusing on software for phones like the iPhone, Symbian and Android operating systems. Neary didn’t give any explanation as to why he chose not to cooperate with Microsoft but instead brought up new plans that Skype has in mind for the iPhone, iPad and Android based phones. Microsoft hasn’t said anything on the matter. While a lot of us use the powerful communication system, others may not see the need…

Facepalmingly Unsurprising News of the Day: Land Lines Are Dead

Facepalmingly Unsurprising News of the Day: Land Lines Are Dead

I actually talk about this often with friends: how it’s interesting that nobody seemed to notice when the shorthand ‘phone’ became a term for cellphones, and ‘home phone’ now needs clarification when (and if) used in general conversation. Well, it seems those home phones are on their last legs. Researchers for the NCHS have discovered in a recent study that… brace for it… seriously, hold on to your hat. Do you have a weak heart? I’d advise you to leave the room for this one. Alright, here goes… Land lines are going extinct. By all means, facepalm for a moment. I can wait. Seriously, though, apparently…

iPhone Leak Reveals A4 Processor

Slowly the iPhone 4G is being put together right in front us…literally. More next generation iPhone pictures have been leaked but this time, not only do we see the new slick look but we get to see what’s going on inside the phone. The back of the iPhone 4G is shown to still have a reflective casing and respective spots for its large back facing camera and LED flash. Taoviet, a Vietnamese forum posted pictures of the new phone showing that the model no longer has the screws near the dock connector and is designed to be a 16 GB . Google and Verizon To Launch Tablet Computer

Google and Verizon To Launch Tablet Computer

Verizon is planning to release their own version of the tablet computer with a as-yet-unnamed manufacturer who will be using Google’s software on the device. Verizon’s CEO, Lowell McAdam, confirmed that the partnership with Google has been in the works to help Verizon catch up to rival AT&T with a device similar to Apple’s iPad. “We’re working on tablets together, for example. We’re looking at all the things Google has in its archives that we could put on a tablet to make it a great experience.” McAdam said in an interview with WSJ. Verizon would not discuss a manufacturer or timing, and Google…

Was Apple right to dump Flash on iPhone?

Was Apple right to dump Flash on iPhone?

Fresh in from the historical inevitability department comes news of a failed Adobe Flash demo — and an all-new video clip showing what the proprietary multimedia standard can do on an Android phone. Last week’s FlashCamp Seattle saw Flash Platform evangelist Ryan Stewart demo Flash Player 10.1 on a Nexus One phone during his opening keynote. It didn’t go well, wrote blogger, Jeff Croft. Here’s what happened: On his Mac, Ryan pulled up a site called Eco Zoo. It is, seemingly, a pretty intense example of Flash development — full of 3D rendering, rich interactions, and cute little characters….

Video: iPad-touting Waiters Take Orders With An Apple Smile

Next time you sit down for a slap-up meal out keep an eye on the waiter – he (or she) may well take your order with an iPad. This replaces older PDA-based ordering systems, and could mean diners can even take a look at luch full-colour pictures of what they are ordering. It may even help restaurants keep an eye on the stock they have in hand. System developed by 4asoft.com. Perhaps you’ll be paying for your meal using an iPad, too. Square today introduced an iPhone credit card payment system, following last month’s introduction of a similar system for the iPhone. Via: PocketLint. Thumbnail image…

Nirvana Revenge In Bloom For iPhone

Nirvana Revenge In Bloom For iPhone

The tragic Kurt Cobain might have left us but this doesn’t mean Nirvana’s record label don’t continue to seek out new opportunities to make money from the artist’s legacy — now it seems Tapulous has inked a deal to bring a dedicated Nirvana game to the iPhone. Nirvana Revenge will feature 13 of the band’s songs in a new variant of the well-recognised Tap Tap Revenge game. Songs will include Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are and Heart Shaped Box plus some live numbers from a UK rock festival. The app should be available later this week for $4.99 via the App Store. There’s a Bluetooth…
