You And Your iPad: 6 Stunning Apps You Should Own

Everyone seemed skeptical at first, but over a million sales later and it seems pretty clear everybody is getting more and more interested in trying out Apple’s iPad. We bounced some ideas around the office to come up with six great apps we think every iPad user’s going to want to have installed on their new toy. 1. Marvel Comics Free, cost of comics varies This beautiful app seems set to change the way we consume comic books. It’s almost as if the iPad is built for them — now Marvel intends making new comic titles available digitally first. New titles are sold through an online store that works…

None of these apps are a substitute for proper training, if you really want to be prepared then do take a course, but for a refresher or to boost your skills just a little bit, then tale a look at these. 1. Aw, They Grow Up So Fast - YouTube Turns Five

Aw, They Grow Up So Fast - YouTube Turns Five

Your favorite waste of time celebrates a half-decade this week. I’m one of the few who can remember life before YouTube. I even remember the very first video I watched – some home movie of an airheaded jock, drunk and throwing his cat down the stairs or something. Okay, maybe I don’t recall it with complete accuracy, but I do remember thinking one thing: “This will never catch on”. At the time, YouTube’s content was almost entirely comprised of horribly unfunny home videos. Needless to say, five years later, feel free to color me previously-undefined shades of wrong; YouTube’s bandwidth last year…

Skype 5.0 Beta is released only to Windows users. Chat with up to four people at once

Why leave home when you can just hang out online with all your friends? Skype has now made this more possible……… well, kinda. If you are a windows user, there is a new Skype 5.0 Beta download available which allows you to video chat with up to four people at once. I wonder if Apple users are going to be upset that it didn’t get released to them first. The plus side to this new featured is that you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home anymore. You can catch up with friends, hang out online, and even do your homework while gossiping. Talk about multi-tasking. But now we must ask the question………..

Adobe Attempts Lightroom and other Apps for the iPad Despite Concerns

Adobe Attempts Lightroom and other Apps for the iPad Despite Concerns

A new effort has Adobe attempting to bring imaging software, such as Lightroom, to the iPad and other tablet computers despite the bad blood between them and Apple. The project team leader is worried about the control Apple keeps over its software. The existence of Lightroom on the iPad could convince many photographers to make an investment in the tablet PC due to its mobility, but will Apple let Lightroom for the iPad ship? Lately, Apple has voiced its beef against Adobe’s Flash but nothing has ever been explicitly said about the Lightroom software, despite it being competition for Apple’s…

Hulu Improves Its Website But Continues With Flash

Hulu Improves Its Website But Continues With Flash

Hulu, unfortunately, will not be offering an HTML5 player. Instead the website, offering commercial-supported streaming video, has decided to stick with the current Flash players… at least for the time being. Although the website promises to monitor the progress of developments made on HTML5, it’s VP says “as of now it doesn’t meet all of our customer’s needs.” This news has killed the rumor that the company was working on a site that would utilize HTML5 instead of Flash. This rumor comes from a report last August that claimed Hulu was only months away from developing a TV show watching…

Finally, A Way To Make Even Your Most Mundane Tweets Half-Dignified

Finally, A Way To Make Even Your Most Mundane Tweets Half-Dignified

Today is historic. Today was never supposed to happen, yet against all odds, it did. Today marks the first time I’ve sat back and thought to myself ‘Huh. Might be nice to have an iPad.’ Now, I catch a lot of flak as Techi’s resident Apple skeptic (he said, typing this from a Mac), but this morning, I am all smiles about That Crazy-Powerful, Magical iPad. Why, might you ask? You probably mightn’t. But either way, I’m going to show you. Here, we have Tabloids, running on the iPad. Pretty well-formatted app, right? Sexy. So it’s a news feed reader, isn’t it? Actually, it isn’t. This thing’s a goddamn Twitter…

Limewire Loses: Another Victory for RIAA Against File Sharing

Limewire Loses: Another Victory for RIAA Against File Sharing

People may have a harder time downloading their crappy new wave electro-pop as sung by androgynous female singers now that LimeWire, the popular P2P platform, has lost the case against US record labels for copyright infringement. This marks another victory won by record labels against online file-sharing. On Tuesday, in a major court case, the federal court ruled against LimeWire finding the owners of the peer-to-peer program personally liable to copyright infringement. The case was brought forth by the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA), representing four major US labels,…

Adobe Loves Apple... erm, maybe not

Adobe Loves Apple... erm, maybe not

The ongoing feud between Apple and Adobe has received a new twist today as Adobe’s founders have posted an open letter, aptly named “thoughts on openness” – declaring their love for Apple, all the while attacking Apple’s policies that are taking away freedom of choice. The feud began after Steve Jobs, Apple’s founder, posted his thoughts on Flash and why we will never see it on an iPhone or iPad. The post basically pointed out that Flash remains completely controlled by Adobe, it is not needed on the web anymore and that Flash is a virus magnet. You can see the original post by Jobs here….

Skype to Add Advertising to Its Already Cluttered Interface

Skype to Add Advertising to Its Already Cluttered Interface

Skype has been building itself up to becoming the most respected and used Internet phone company on the net, in fact, you would be hard pressed to find any worthy competition at all. The best part? It’s still free when calling computer to computer. There is a price to be paid for this ‘free’ service though, and that is putting up with all the advertising. We see it (for the most part) as an irritant, but companies such as Skype see it as revenue. Skype has put out a warning that more advertising is coming. In an interview with The Telegraph, CEO Josh Silverman has said: “It’s challenging to get…

Google Serves Microsoft on Their Official Blog

Google Serves Microsoft on Their Official Blog

The now Internet powerhouse Google used its blog today to call out Microsoft on its new open source 2010 Office suite. A day before Microsoft takes its Office 2010 suite out of beta; Matthew Glotzbach, Google Enterprise Product Management Director, has posted a blog entry urging Microsoft Office users to forget Office and use Google’s new upgrade, Google Docs. “If you choose this path, upgrade means what it’s supposed to mean: effortless, affordable, and delivering a remarkable increase in employee productivity,” writes Glozbach in his post earlier today. “This is a refreshing…
