A June update to the Skype software adds recipients to some of the instant messages you send out through the system. Instead of just sending it out to the person or people selected for the message, it includes other people as well without your knowledge. According to VentureBeat, Skype knows all about it: “We are aware that in rare circumstances IMs between two contacts could be sent to an unintended third contact. Now this is an odd bug, if I’ve ever heard of one. Apparently, thousands of female Facebook users have been attempting to log on, only to find their accounts deactivated. Spooky. And this has been going on for a few days, too. Twitter says it has now fixed the bug which allowed people to force others to follow them. The loophole, that one could simply type ‘accept @LadyGaga’ to force Lady Gaga to follow your tweets was closed, but not before being passed around the social networking took. Originally found by a Turkish man known as bilo31, the bug did not disrupt service but Twitter was forced to reset many accounts while cleaning up the damage.
